Clinical potential of the sensor platform developed at IBIB PAN to be presented at ESSO 45 in Madrid
The results of research conducted at the Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IBIB PAN) within a project funded by the Medical Research Agency have been accepted for presentation at the 45. Kongresu Europejskiego Towarzystwa Chirurgii Onkologicznej (ESSO 45)which will take place on 4 – 6 November 2026 in Madrid.
The results obtained to date will be presented during the Innovation&Technology session in a presentation entitled „Towards real-time and non-invasive postoperative drainage fluid pH monitoring in secondary bacterial peritonitis: a miniaturised flow-through sensor platform”.
The project focuses on the development of a miniaturised sensor platform for monitoring the pH of drainage fluids under flow conditions. The technology is intended to support the monitoring of patients following surgical procedures by providing information on changes in drainage fluid pH. In the future, the solution may serve as an additional tool supporting the assessment of treatment effectiveness and the earlier detection of postoperative complications.
The presentation of these results at one of Europe’s leading congresses dedicated to surgical oncology represents an important distinction for the research team and confirms the clinical potential of the technology under development.
