The Nalecz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, Polish Academy of Sciences (IBBE PAS), Warsaw, Poland, seeks applications for a position as Associate Professor at 100% effort with an expected start date of May 1st, 2021. The IBBE PAS ranks among the top research institutions in the country and continues to be at the forefront in emerging areas of biomedical engineering and related technologies. Associate Professor will implement a research program proposed by Her/Him. This program will be implemented with a newly hired team (post-doc, doctoral student), consisting of research workers proposed and selected independently by Her/Him from among students, graduates under the competition. The duties of the Associate Professor include:
- The Associate Professor works actively and independently starting, developing and refining the individual research program.
- The Associate Professor actively seeks team members.
- The Associate Professor actively seeks external financial support of the research from domestic and international granting organizations.
The individual research program will be funded for two years by IBBE PAS and run under guidance provided by the Deputy Director for Research. Further employment and research program realization depends on funding received from external granting agencies.
Candidates should have Doctor of science (DSc) degree (habilitation) or equivalent international degree or doctoral degree and postdoctoral experience in the field of biomedical sciences and technology. Candidates should have a strong international record of research excellence in the field of experimental biomedical engineering. Their interdisciplinary background should complement the established research areas at the IBBE PAS. Possible areas of expertise include but are not limited to: (bio)artificial organs, biomedical imaging systems, biotechnological platforms and engineering tools for (personalized) medicine, biomedical measurements. Applicants should have considerably participated in the supervision of master and/or PhD students and have experience in acquiring third-party funding for their research.
