Description of research conducted in the Laboratory:

In the Laboratory of Biosensors and Analytical Microsystems, research is carried out on the development of biosensors and microsystems for multi-parameter biochemical analyzes. The works concern, among others electrochemical biosensors used in the diagnosis and monitoring of neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Parkinson, Alzheimer) and autoimmune diseases (e.g. Crohn's disease, Hashimoto's disease, rheumatoid arthritis). The sensors under development use enzymes, DNA and antibodies as receptors. Materials such as metallic nanoparticles, carbon nanostructures (nanotubes, graphene, graphene oxide) and conductive polymers (polyethylene dioxythiophene, polyanailine, polyazulene, polypyrrole,
poly-l-lysine) are used as intermediate or transducer layers of biosensors.

Scope of the research to be carried out by the employee

  • Development of new electrochemical biosensors by selection of components and the methods of bioelectrodes modification.
  • Determination of metrological parameters of biosensors carried out by performing voltammetric experiments and in particular by the methods of cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry.
  • Developing a methodology for determining analytes, optimizing procedures etc.
  • Preparing manuscripts and conference presentation for publication.
  • Preparing grant proposals to research funding agencies.

A candidate for the position of Graduate Researche Assistant should meet the following requirements:


PhD degree in discipline: biomedical engineering, chemistry, chemical technology, materials science, nanotechnology or related.

Scientific/professional achievements:

  1. At least two publications published or accepted for publication in journals listed in JCR.
  2. Participation in the research projects will be an additional advantage.


  1. Well-defined area of competence and scientific profile related to the scientific specialty of the Laboratory of Biosensors and Analytical Microsystems, including experience in electrochemical and spectroscopic methods of analysis (measurement and interpretation of results). Experience in study by Impedance Spectroscopy is and additional advantage.
  2. Required general knowledge in biomedical engineering, chemistry, nanotechnology.
  3. Ability to plan experiments and present the results.
  4. Basic knowledge of statistical methods

Additional requirements:

  • Knowledge of English enabling writing publications in this language.
  • Knowledge of using data processing programs.

c. the list of completed research projects, including the sources of financing and the financial dimensions (e.g. research projects of the Ministry of Education and Science, projects in EU Programs, work commissioned by economic entities),

d. the list of projects implemented in scientific cooperation with foreign countries,

e. the list of national and international scientific societies and committees of which the candidate was or is a member,

f. the declaration of the candidate that in the event of winning the competition, IBB PAS will be their primary place of work.
